Wanosh Forest Garden and Healing Ground (a 501c3 sponsored by the Cloud Forest Institute) is a 40+ acre demonstration, education, and regeneration center located in the heart of Mendocino County, Pomo territory of California, supporting communities, families, and individuals return to regenerative and reciprocal relationships with the ecosystems we live within.

Our Mission

To nourish the relation of Humans and Nature through action and education of forest fire prevention, natural building, closed loop systems, listening and internal arts.

To serve as regenerative center for communal and ecological symbiosis by recognizing our interdependence and responsibility to tend to the cycles of life.

Our Vision

Our vision is to connect the pathways between the inner and outer ecosystems. We see ourselves as inseparable from the natural world, noting that our cultural, physical, and spiritual health and the health of our mother planet are intrinsically connected.

We envision a world where multigenerational neighbors are coming together to plant perennial food/medicine systems and join hands to build homes to serve many generations.

We vision a way of life where water is at the center, and leadership is horizontal and diverse.

We dream of an artistic society, where work is prayer and play.

Our Action Plan

To care for the Earth by listening, then responding.

We do this through growing food and medicine, and regenerating the forest and aquifer we depend on.

We support this process by chaperoning fire through the forest, building with on-site harvested earthen materials as well as developing habitat for a diverse interface of wild and domestic creatures including bees and hummingbirds.

Building a resilient network of ecological caring community onsite, locally, regionally, and globally.

We cultivate our gifts and passion to leverage our privilege and continuously examine our role in the breakdown of systematic injustice.

We are an evolving educational demonstration site dedicated to helping the growth and healing of all beings through continued dialogue with water, fire, food, medicine, and ourselves as nature. This approach is accomplished by incorporating community, music, healing/remembrance arts, educational workshops, and silence within a multi-dimensional design strategy.

Wanosh, she is the spirit of resonance and interconnectedness.
